Temple are proud to be sponsoring our Underwriting Director, David Pipkin and Senior Underwriter, Kim Alexander who will be part of a team of now 17 climbing Mount Kilimanjaro, the world’s tallest free standing mountain.
This is the biggest physical challenge the two of them have ever faced. All team members have been training hard but the reality of the challenge is dawning as they will be flying out to Tanzania on the 30th September.
They are doing it to help raise funds for a very inspirational friend, Franco Gasparotti, and charities Combat Stress, Soldiering On and VISION 2020UK.
Franco Gasparotti is a former soldier in the Coldstream Guards, who was seriously injured during operational service and was subsequently invalided out of the Army. He suffered from post-traumatic stress syndrome, which manifested into a huge weight gain. Through his own perseverance, Franco lost the weight but he has needed a number of surgical procedures not funded by the NHS.
He is now a freelance health and fitness consultant and ambassador for Combat Stress and The Soldiering On Through Life Trust. It is Franco’s determination and compassion for others that is the inspiration for this trek, and the principal aim is to help him raise funds for his operations.
All those joining Franco are self-funding, so please help raise funds directly for him. Any funds over the target will go to Combat Stress, the Soldiering On Through Life Awards and VISION 2020UK.

David Pipkin
David was Director of Temple’s Underwriting Division for 14 years during which time he supported Temple’s coverholders with his exceptional knowledge, expert guidance and friendly countenance.
He is now a Non-Executive member of the board supporting the strategic direction of the company and attending key events and meetings with our customers.
David has spent over 40 years as a Legal Executive specialising in personal injury litigation. Initially, he was a claimant litigator pursuing leading industrial accident and disease cases.
As an Associate at Davies Arnold Cooper for over a decade he managed a team of lawyers and acted for defendants in personal injury and general insurance litigation. In this role, he became involved in the early development of the ATE market, assisting the ABI in their involvement in the Court of Appeal test cases such as Callery v Gray.
As the London representative for FOIL he was involved in the liability insurers’ approach to ATE and worked with the government and judiciary in several key consultations. He was a member of the CILEX National Council for over 15 years and was CILEX President in 1995/6.
