On Monday 8th June, Temple Legal Protection participated in the 10,000 Steps for Justice in support of the London Legal Support Trust.
This event saw members of our team either walk or jog 10,000 steps to raise funds to support vital frontline legal advice services provided at no cost to those in need.
The loss of funding in the charity sector has seen advice agencies trying to meet a huge rise in demand for legal advice against a backdrop of drastically reduced income – all as a result of Covid-19. Emergency applications for funding have flooded in, with some advice charities citing a 600% increase in requests for help.
The virus’s impact on society has seen a surge in demand for support and help from free legal advice charities, with a great many people seeking urgent, professional advice for employment, housing and debt-related matters.
This increased need and significant reduction in advice agencies’ income has created a ‘perfect storm’ of injustice – with many individuals and families left with nowhere else to turn. So now, more than ever, is the time to come together with your peers, colleagues, friends, and family, to make a difference and keep these vital lifelines of advice, support, and hope afloat.
